![]() ![]() What happened next was nothing short of spectacular, intriguing, mind-blowing or any other adjectives to qualify my positive experience. (This sub is over 7 years old, I might add earlier before this setup, I purchased a JBL L8400P 12-Inch Powered Subwoofer with 600 watt Digital Amplifier as a replacement and promptly returned it after a disappointing performance). My speaker systems setup is as follows 2 large front JBL (tower), Northridge series, Klipsch center channel speaker, RC-62, 2 book-shelve Infinity surround, 2 JBL surround back speakers and a 12"-200 watts Optimus subwoofer. With my MCAA calibration done I was ready to view “The Day After Tomorrow” (in 58” Samsung plasma). I read the threads and blog about similar products like Onkyo, Denon etc., but then I set aside everything, since the ‘monster’ is here. I was not very pleased with the quality of music it came out flat, though more powerful than my previous AV, but I did not buy it for the music. To avoid damage to the receiver and your cabinet, get additional help if you are placing in a tight space it is heavy. At a glance I was discouraged with the shipping condition, but then I opened the plastic rapping and here comes out this ‘monster’, so beautiful, so powerfully black. This is my first elite receiver and I am completely pleased with it.įirst of all, the package came in a little bit damaged with cushioning materials all broken up. This Pioneer Elite VSX 94TXH 7.1 is an awesome receiver and I must say I am completely blown away by the quality and clarity of sound. Pioneer Elite VSX 94TXH 7.1 channel Receiver Reviews Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-owned The remotes that all the reviewers complain about, but I don't have a problem with, Pioneer AXD7504, are occasionally available on eBay, brand new for about $50 from China. You probably will have to find these at Pioneer or aftermarket. Make sure you get the FM antenna and the MC/ACC microphone for setup. I bought a VSX-74 TXVi many years ago for quite a bit more money, and am still pleased with it, then found a couple of these for about $300 with $40 shipping (these weigh close to 40 lbs.!). As such, it is worth studying if you are planning to spend upwards of $1000 or more on today's receivers, when you can find one of these for half that or less if you search and wait. My suggestion? Do a Google search on Pioneer Elite V SX94-TXH (don't worry about caps) and read the reviews. It lacks 4K output, but how many 4K DVD's can you buy today? Let alone how many stations broadcast 4K? This has an iPhone connection, just about all the home theater features you could look for, 7 channels at 140 watts per channel(!), 1080p HDMI input and output. I am an old school hifi fanatic that doesn't need or expect many of the newer features, primarily bluetooth, that have been developed in the last 5 years. If you are a newbie looking for wireless connectivity (other than the remote), this is not for you. If you are looking for high power and features in a receiver that is 8 years old, you have come to the right place. The Pioneer Elite series of state of the art receivers, while slightly dated, are among the best ever designed. ![]()
